COLUMN: It’s not time to panic about NC State football — yet

Whether you were at home or were part of the horde of Wolfpack faithful that filled Wallace Wade Stadium in Durham, you probably didn’t stick around for all 60 minutes of NC State football’s abysmal performance against then-No. 17 Duke.

The Wolfpack suffered its worst loss of the season in the 24-3 rout. It scored the least amount of points in a game since 2014 due to a lack of offensive efficiency, and a few backbreaking plays let up on defense sealed the Pack’s fate against the Blue Devils.

No. 17 Blue Devils throttle NC State football in Durham, Wolfpack falls 24-3

DURHAM, N.C. — When it rains, it pours.

And No. 17 Duke poured it on NC State football all night long, dishing out a dominating 24-3 win over the Wolfpack under the lights at Wallace Wade Stadium.

While the red-and-white jumped out to an early 3-0 lead off of a turnover, it all quickly went downhill for the Pack from there. The Blue Devils (5-1, 2-0 ACC) pressed the gas pedal on both sides of the ball, using explosive plays on offense and stifling defense to run the Wolfpack (4-3, 1-2 ACC) bac

NC State men’s soccer battles, falls 2-1 at No. 15 Duke

DURHAM, N.C. — NC State men’s soccer fell short of working its way out of a four-match slide, losing to No. 15 Duke 2-1 at Koskinen Stadium on Friday.

After recently falling to ranked teams such as then-No. 15 Notre Dame and then-No. 6 Wake Forest, the highly-ranked Blue Devils (8-3-1, 3-3 ACC) gave NC State (6-8, 1-5 ACC) another challenging test. However, even after recently coming off a surprising midweek loss to American, the Wolfpack gave Duke all it could handle in a tense showdown in Dur

A strong, two-goal start from the Wolfpack (2-7-5, 1-3-2 ACC) kept the team in front, and NC State had just enough guts to earn a full three points on the ACC table.

While it’s still not the win NC State women’s soccer has been searching for, the Wolfpack gave the No. 16 Duke Blue Devils all they could handle in Durham on Sunday, Sept. 24.

With neither team able to find a goal, the red-and-white recorded its third tie in four matches by drawing 0-0 with the Blue Devils (5-3-1, 1-1-1 ACC). After its heated 1-1 draw with Wake Forest, the Pack (1-5-5, 0-1-2 ACC) has recorded two well-earned draws in a row — all in spite of its merciless conference schedule.
